Wyldewood is a vigorous, high-yielding mid-season cultivar known for its exceptionally large, fragrant flower heads and abundant dark purple-black berries.

Size and Growth Habit: A fast-growing, multi-stemmed shrub that typically reaches 5 to 8 feet in height and spread, though it can grow up to 10 feet tall in ideal conditions. It has an upright, rounded form and can be pruned to maintain size.

Flowers and Fruit: Produces massive, flat-topped clusters (cymes) of small, white, lemony-scented flowers, often measuring up to 12 inches across, in June and July. These are followed by heavy yields of small, sweet, dark purple-black berries that ripen in late summer (typically August to September), later than many other cultivars.

Foliage: Features attractive green, lance-shaped, pinnately compound leaves.

Hardiness: Extremely cold-hardy, thriving in USDA Plant Hardiness Zones 3 through 9.

Origin: Selected from a wild population near Eufaula, Oklahoma, by the University of Missouri's elderberry breeding program.
Pollination While partially self-fruitful, yields will increase significantly when planted with another American elderberry variety for cross-pollination.
